Heavyweight techs shored up the local market, with TENCENT (00700.HK) setting a four-and-a-half-year high of HKD683, and it last logged at HKD677.5, up 2.19%, with a turnover of HKD5.208 billion. BABA-W (09988.HK) hit a four-year high of HKD184.8, and it last recorded at HKD183.7, up 3.79%, with a turnover of HKD8.429 billion. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) set a two-year high of HKD139.3, and it last recorded at HKD138.3, up 3.83%, with a turnover of HKD1.57 billion. International gold prices repeatedly hit new highs, driving gold miners higher. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) last traded at HKD33.88, up 3.93%, with a turnover of HKD1.247 billion. CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) hit a historical high of HKD144.7, and it last charted at HKD143.5, up 3.39%.
